Did you know that the Southern Poverty Law Center lists the Nation of Islam as a hate group? The group is respected by millions of people around the world, and does quite a bit of work in the black community, much of this work being the things that no one else is willing to do.
Mark Potok at the Southern Poverty Law Center, appearing on the Rock Newman Show, says that the Nation of Islam is listed as a hate group, not because of deeds, but because of its rhetoric. He also inexplicably stated that many of the Nation of Islam followers are not aware that the organization teaches black superiority or similar ideas. This statement is odd, since it appears to imply that he believes the Nation of Islam followers are not intelligent enough to understand the alleged teachings of Minister Farrakhan.
Farrakhan responded to Potok’s remarks by stating that evil is done with deeds and not just with words. He also argues that because African Americans have such a strong genetic makeup, they are able to mix with any species and change their complexion. He also notes that a Jewish Rabbi was the person who presented the idea that black people are cursed sons of Ham. He also mentions that whites put up the white vs. black water fountains and hotels, stating that the idea of black inferiority was presented long before the Nation of Islam began to share its doctrine.
Farrakhan says that Potok is “misstating facts.” He also challenges the entire Jewish community to debate him on charges that he is anti-semitic. He says that whites began the idea of hatred, not the Nation of Islam. He also says that Mr. Potok alone could not handle a debate with him and his scholars on race. We also doubt that they could handle Min. Farrakhan.
