Former NFL wide receiver Ahmad Rashad is no stranger to high-profile relationships. His latest romantic involvement takes that exposure to a new level, even for the television announcer and former husband of actress Phylicia Rashad.
The Daily Mail reported that Rashad is dating White House Senior Advisor Valerie Jarrett.
“Rumors have been flying all over the capital that Rashad and Valerie Jarrett are an item, but no one appears willing to confirm or deny the supposed romance,” The Daily Mail reported.
Rashad fueled rumors when he told the New York Times to ‘get a hobby while I get my phone number taken off the listing,” when reporters asked him about rumors of his romantic involvement with President Barack Obama’s close friend and political advisor.
After two early marriages, Rashad proposed on live television during a Thanksgiving Day pre-game broadcast to the television wife of comedian Bill Cosby. He and Phylicia Rashad were married for 16 years. After his divorce, he married for the fourth time, to Sale Johnson, former wife of billionaire Woody Johnson, owner of the New York Jets. That marriage ended a year ago.
“The former Minnesota Viking’s appearances at Michelle Obama’s 50th birthday party earlier this year and at the president’s unveiling of his ‘My Bother’s Keeper’ initiative aimed at helping young black men find career paths only further stoked the rumor mill flames,” The Mail reported.
Whispers grew after Rashad played golf with President Obama on a recent family vacation. Jarrett was on the trip, according to the Times.
The White House press office ‘strongly objected’ to the Times’ report on their rumored romantic involvement. No photos of the couple – if they are indeed a couple — are known to be in circulation.
